, representing a nearly $1.9 billion loss for the company. groupon stock popped following rumors that google might be planning a takeover. groupon shares hit $4.69, the highest level in 3 weeks, after rumors spread that google could be considering a buy of the coupon company. groupon rejected a $6- billion bid from google prior to going public. but bloomberg news reports since groupon's market share has fallen in value, google is considering another offer. both google and groupon have declined comment. google is turning into a shopper's friend this christmas. 80% of people are googling their research on christmas purchases before buying. however, julia krueger of google says this doesn't necessarily mean shopping habits are transitioning to online- only. in the 1970's and 1980's that we had now we would not have had the googles, or the intels because many of those founders that graduated from the american universities would not be allowed to stay. our bill does a variety of things. but the two most important, one, let's start with the lowest hanging fruit. those graduate degrees masters and p.h.d.'s in science, technology, engineering, and math. and say if you graduate and you have a job awaiting you in america we're going to give you a green card. this should be the most basic of common sense because the remarkable thing these jobs now in a global economy can be anywhere in the world. not only those high-paying, high-skilled jobs themselves but sometimes support jobs. if you are an engineer you can be a computer engineer. part two, we get a few less nods on the second which is to advise what i believe policies. those folks lucky enough to stay in this country in many cases become indentured servants to the companies they work for because their ability to switch jobs or, god for bid, decide they want to be entrepreneurs and they are gr

not that familiar with the education act. google is spending a significant amount of money to see we can do better. what the big frustration is what we talk about education but many of the other social problems that we talked about, when you see that there is such a dramatic technological change and we have not done anything to abandon our educational system. we can see is their ways that we can use these ongoing on-line resources to reach kids and get them to think beyond, to do that type was of things to introduce them to worlds beyond our borders. there are opportunities to shake things up and to cut some of the costs by allowing kids to enter world's and realms of the have never been allowed to enter before through technology and we need to spend more time figuring out how we change that paradigm if we know it. particularly for the pre-k through high-school. how can we learn better based on what we know today? >> let me try two more before we open it up to questions. warren buffett says tax rates do not matter as much as a lot of people pretend when it comes to companies and investment and inn

on -- every once in a while i check tweeting. >> i saw it on google, too. kayla tausche reporting -- >> kayla beat nick dunn. >> nick dunn was quoting kayla. >> is that right? >> corporate news that we're talking about, ingersoll-rand is nearing a deal to spin off its security technology business. cnbc's kayla tausche is reporting that the news could be announced as early as today. the spin-off comes after months of negotiations with an activist investor. ingersoll-rand is planning to announce a buyback program and a nearly 30% increase in the share program. also, aig is considering selling its plane leasing firm to a chinese group for up to $4.8 billion. plus, listen to this, mcdonald's is going to be reporting november sales today. look for the numbers at about 8:00 a.m. eastern time. analysts are expecting global comps to decline .1%. u.s. sales are seen falling by .8% while europe is expected to tick slightly higher. this was a big deal last month when they came out for their comps. it disappointed for the first time in years and years. people will be watching this number very closely to
